The funniest bugs

Like outtakes or bloopers in film, bugs can be funny.

In Dawn of War 2, there is a character customization tool where you can choose “wargear” to equip your characters (armour, weapons, etc.). We had a savegame bug in a later patch that produced a slight offset, resulting in erroneous wargear configurations. In other words, you would open the game and see completely wrong stuff on your characters! Things like humanoids all of a sudden having alien talons. This was hilarious but also a bit concerning because the game used the Warhammer 40,000 IP from Games Workshop. They are very strict about what is allowed and what is not, and so having Tyranid (alien bug things) items able to be equipped on Space Marines (humanoid super-soldiers) is a big no-no.

There was another in Company of Heroes where characters were no longer dying from fire damage, so they would run around and set others on fire, until the screen was a Benny Hill “run-off” scene.

Sometimes a bug can be funny with just how silly it was, like when the fix is a single character or even the capitalization of a character.

What is one of your funny bug stories?
